In grade eight I took physics. In one test I get only 36 percent of the answer correct. I failed the next one, either. I started to think that maybe I was not good at it. However, I was not lucky enough to have a teacher which didn’t take my bad grades as a judgment of my abilities, but simply like an indication how I should study harder. He pulled me aside and told me that he knew I could do better. He permitted to retake the test, and I was pulled my grade to an A. This is what I discovered: just because a subject is difficulty to learn, it doesn’t mean you are not good at it.

It was at five o’ clock yesterday afternoon which I was going home by bus. The bus was full of passenger, all of who kept silent. A mother with her little son were sitting nearby. All of a sudden, the son cried loudly. The mother tried to do what she could make him stop crying. However, the son goes on crying. After what seemed a long time, a man seating next to the mother said angry, “ I can’t stand it anymore. Why don’t you give him what he wants?” The mother answered quietly, “I would if I could. But what she wants is your cap.” Hearing of this, all the passengers burst into laughter.

Xiaolan, who is fourteen, a middle school student in Southern China. She is a one of the best student in her class and  she was won an award for young scientists last year. When seating in the classroom she looks just like all her classmates and after class her life is obvious different. She was born without the ability to use her legs and she has no feeling below the waist. An old man whose eyesight was failing comes to stay in a hotel, a bottle of whisky in his hand. On the wall was a fly he took for a nail. The moment he tried to hang the bottle on it, they fell and broke. When the landlady discovered what had been happened, she decided to do him favor. The next morning when he was out, the hotel worker hammered a nail exact where the “fly” had been. Before the old man came back, the smell of the whisky reminded him the accident. Looking at the spot what he thought the “fly” was again, he was so angry that he slapped it with all his strengths. On hearing the loud cry, the landlady rushed in. To her surprise, the poor old man was sitting on the floor with his teeth clenched(咬緊) and the palm of his hand bleed.

After school I went to home for supper. When I got home, I found my mother laying in bed.She was ill. Unluckily, my father was away from home in business. “What shall I do?” I thought to me. Since Mother was ill, I must take well care of her. So I decided to try cooking by myself. I did the cooking with great difficulty but it got burnt at last. I had thought Mother would never like. To my joy, Mother praised me for the meat I have cooked. She said, “It tastes delicious. I’m very pleasing with it.” I knew Mother was encouraging us to do more by myself.
