第一處:he改為she?疾榇~。指代前面的名詞Mary,應(yīng)用she作為主語。

第二處:meanwhile改為therefore。考查副詞。此處前后兩句是因果關(guān)系,故用表因果的副詞therefore。

第三處:she與taught之間加was?疾闀r態(tài)語態(tài)。結(jié)合語境,此處應(yīng)表示“她被教給……”,表示過去的情況,故應(yīng)用一般過去式的被動語態(tài)was taught。

第四處:or改為and?疾檫B詞。give與send for是順承關(guān)系而不是選擇關(guān)系,故用and。

A

A big bowl of milk can be a great way to start the day. Many snack bars contain nutrients that help our bodies stay strong and healthy. But some of these foods are packed with too many vitamins and minerals. According to a new study by the Environmental Working Group (EWG), this extra fortification may be more harmful than helpful.

Of the tested snack bars, 27 have more than 50% of the recommended amounts of vitamin A, niacin and zinc. Nutrition facts listed on packages are based on recommended daily values for adults, who are physically larger and require more vitamins and minerals. So when kids eat these cereals (麥片) and snack bars, they are getting more nutrients than they need.

Vitamin A, niacin (煙酸) and zinc (鋅) are best in fresh and unprocessed foods that are in their natural state. Vitamin A helps you see at night. It occurs naturally in eggs, meat and carrots. Niacin is a vitamin that helps our bodies make energy. It is found in foods like fish, seeds, and peanuts, as well as in whole grains like wheat and brown rice. Zinc helps our bodies fight off infection. It is found in many foods, including wheat-based products, meats, beans and nuts.

Children typically eat more than one serving of cereal or snack bars a day, in addition to taking vitamin supplements. Eating large amounts of these nutrients can be dangerous to kids’ health. Too much vitamin A can cause liver damage, and high levels of zinc can destroy the body’s natural immunity, or power to fight infection.

The EWG authors are calling for the FDA to make changes to its guidelines for nutrient intake and revise its daily values to match kids’ diets.

閱讀下列短文,從每題所給的四個選項 (A 、B 、C D )中,選出最佳選項。

My friend Jennie Crossen gave her bone marrow (骨髓) to a 51-year-old woman with leukemia, a woman she has never met.

At the end of March, the Red Cross called back. Six different blood elements were tested; Jennie matched five completely and was about a 3/4 match of the sixth. So she was the best match.

In April, Jennie went for a complete physical exam by one of the doctors who would perform the surgery. The doctor had to make sure that it would be no threat to her. The doctor told her that the surgery would entail having two quarts of bone marrow extracted from her hip bones. Jennie would probably be released the same day the surgery took place and should expect to be sore for a couple of months.

"I didn't think it was that big a deal until I realized I was a match," Jennie said, "There wasn't a question in my head. It didn't seem like something that was going above and beyond."

Jennie was left with two very small scars on her lower back from the surgery and was given medication to help dull the pain. She still felt a great deal of pressure on her lower back. "Being only 21, I feel like I am not old enough to significantly impact someone's life," Jennie said, "It seems strange to me that I could possibly save this woman's life which was being cut short by cancer."

Three weeks after the surgery, Jennie received a call from the Red Cross representative who told her the transplant was successful. "I feel good, and I think it will actually work for her," she said, "So many people say they'd only donate if it was for a family member or close friend. This woman is someone's family and someone's friend. Obviously, no one she knows is a match, and the fact that you'd be able to help a perfect stranger is great."

【1】 Jennie Crossen gave her bone marrow to .

A. a close friend B. a stranger

C. a classmate D. a relative

【2】Before Jennie Crossen knew she was the best match, her feeling could described as ”.

A. frightened B. nervous C. calm D. excited

【3】The underlined word "impact" in Paragraph 5 probably means .

A. take pleasure in the beauty

B. devote all one's life to something

C. end the dangerous practice of something

D. have an important effect on something

【1】What would be the best title of this passage?

Tips for Cooking on a Tight緊湊的 Schedule

From my experience, there are three main reasons why people don’t cook more often: ability, money and time. 【1】 Money is a topic I’ll save for another day. So today I want to give you some advice on how to make the most of the time you spend in the kitchen.

Think ahead. The moments when I think cooking is a pain are when I’m already hungry and there’s nothing ready to eat. So think ahead of the coming week. When will you have time to cook? Do you have the right materials already? 2

Make your time worth it. Make the most of your time and save it later on. Are you making one loaf of bread? 3 It takes around the same amount of time to make more of something. So save yourself the effort for a future meal.

4 This may surprise you, but one of the best tools for making cooking worth your time is experiment. It gives you the chance to hit upon new ideas. The more you learn and the more you try, the more ability you have to take control of your food and your schedule.

Hopefully that gives a good start. 5 And don’t let a busy schedule discourage you from making some great changes in the way you eat and live!

A.Try new things.

B.Ability is easily improved.

C. Make three or four instead.

D.Understand your food better.

E.Cooking is a burden for many people.

F.Let cooking and living simply be a joy rather than a burden.

G.A little time planning ahead can save a lot of work later on.

It is no doubt that health is the most important thing in our life. As a Chinese proverb go, "Health is blessing". Should we be always ill in bed, how can we enjoy life?

To keep healthy, we must develop a healthy way of life. First of all, we should keep on doing sports on a regularly basis, because it can strengthen both our body and mind, refresh ourselves and making us work more efficiently. Secondly, we must keep balanced diet to provide our body with various nutrition we need, but we should refuse junk food. Remember, it is through the mouth where diseases enter into our body.
