A thief who dropped a winning lottery ticket(彩票) at the scene of his crime has been given a lesson in honesty. The man who was robbed picked up the ticket, then won the £25,000 prize, managed to look for him, and handed over the cash.

The robbery happened when maths professor Vinicio Sabbatucci, 58, was changing a tyre (輪胎) on an Italian motorway. Another motorist, who stopped to “help”, stole a suitcase from his car and drove off. The professor found the dropped ticket and put it in his pocket before driving home to Ascoli in eastern Italy.

The next day, he saw the lottery results on TV and, taking out the ticket, realized it was a winner. He claimed(認領(lǐng)) the 60 million lire(里拉) prize. Then he began a battle with his conscience. Finally, he decided he could not keep the money although he had been robbed. He advertised in newspapers and on radio, saying: “I’m trying to find the man who robbed me. I have 60 million for him ― a lottery winner. Please meet me. Anonymity guaranteed.(匿名擔保)”

Professor Sabbatucci received hundreds of calls from people hoping to trick him into handing them the cash. But there was one voice he recognized, and he arranged to meet the man in a park. The robber, a 35-year-old unemployed father of two, gave back the suitcase and burst into tears. He could not believe what was happening. “Why didn't you keep the money?” he asked. How green are you? Do you know how to be green?

We all need a healthy environment, but we produce waste every day and it does harm to our environment. Though we are young, we can still do something to help. In fact, even the simplest everyday activities can make a real difference to the environment. Here are some ideas for you.

Reduce

Reduce means “use less”. Don’t waste things. This saves money and reduces pollution and waste going into the environment. Before we buy something new, think whether it is really necessary—or maybe the old one will be just as good! When we do buy things, choose local products if possible, and try not to buy too many things from abroad.

Reuse

Reuse means “use again”. Use things for as long as possible. When we buy things, make sure that they last a long time. We should look after them so that they will last, and we should repair them if we can instead of throwing them away and buying new ones. Don’t use a paper cup of a paper bag. It’s better to use a china cup and a lunch box because you can use them again.

Recycle

Recycle means “change things into something else”. Though it takes energy to change something into something else, it’s better than throwing things away or burning them. Find out what can be recycled in your neighborhood and take part in recycling programs. We should also buy products made from recycled materials, such as recycled paper, to help save trees.

So please remember these three words: reduce, reuse and recycle.

C. Always buy new things.

3.Why is it better to use a china cup and a lunch box?

B. You can use them again.

C. You can throw them away.

4.To protect the environment, we should remember these three words: _______.

C. reduce, reuse and recycle

5.The passage may come from ______.
