There are all kinds of speculations(猜測(cè)).Many say that Bryant wants to leave the past behind and have a fresh start. He has often been criticized for phying to benefit himself and not the team as a whole.Others say that he may be trying to compare himself to Michael Jordan.Jordan was famous for his No.23 jersey(運(yùn)動(dòng)衫).Some, such as NBC Sport columnist Michael Ventre, argue that it is“all about money”.Bryant will make more money by selling new jerseys to his fans.

Some speculations are more about fun.For example, there is an opinion that Kobe is actually just a diehard fan of the popular TV drama“24”.

All this talk has turned the number change into a major issue. It seems that there is a lot of fuss over something that should be pretty simple.

Jersey numhers have their own special significance in American sports, especially basketball.

Players choose their number when they join a team and they usually stick with that number for the rest of their career. When a great player retires, his team will honor him by retiring his number.

To some extent, the jersey is the player, and the player is the jersey. Thus, when you see the famous No.23 for the Chicago Bulls, you immediately think about Michael Jordan.A No.32 Miami Heats jersey recalls the image of Shaquille O’Neal, and the Houston Rockets’No.11 belongs only to Yao Ming.

This weekly four-day physical activity schedule will get your kids excited about being active.

Tuesday

When the kids get home from school, don’t let them go straight to the TV and get settled in. Encourage them to get moving and get off the couch by giving them a pedometer(計(jì)步器). Pedometers are the most fun when parents also use one because that turns stepping, walking and running into a game to see who can get the most steps.

Thursday

The kids have done a great job so far this week, but now they are aching for a little more TV time. Instead of turning on cartoons, let them watch fitness movies made just for kids. These movies encourage watchers to get up and dance along to kid-friendly music.

Saturday

Get the whole family out of the house together and over to a park. Bring lots of sports equipment, pack a healthy picnic and have a family competitive sports day. Kids and adults get into groups and play against each other in tennis, basketball or soccer. After everyone has played hard for a couple of hours, stop for a picnic and then if your family isn’t too tired, go back and play some more.

Sunday

Every child loves to play video games and there is no better time to allow kids to play them than on Sunday when no homework is due. But don’t let them play a game that forces them to sit down for hours. Dance games with a floor mat(墊子)to help kids follow the dance moves are popular to kids.

閱讀下面文章,根據(jù)要求回答下列問(wèn)題。
                                                           How to make friends
Choosing friends
Before you make friends, you have to decide who you want to be your friends. Mo.st people like to have
friends who like to do the same kind of things as they do. That doesn't mean you have to be exactly like each
other, just that you enjoy some of the same things. Think about your favorite things to do and try to talk to
your classmates at lunch or rest about your hobbies. You are sure to find at least one person who's excited
about the same things that excite and interest you, too.
Making friends
①The quickest way to make a friend is to smile. When you smile, people think you are friendly and easy
to talk to. It may not be easy at first to smile. But you can practice smiling in front of a mirror. When you
look at yourself in the mirror, think if you'd rather talk to your smiling face or your usual scared or angry face.
②One easy way to start a conversation with someone is to say something nice about them. Think about
how great you feel when someone says something nice to you. Doesn't it make you want to talk to him?
③Ask your new friend's questions about themselves. It's the only way to get to know what they're like
and it's the only way they'll know that you are interested in them.
④Make sure you have something to add to the conversation, too. When someone asks you a question, do
have an answer for them. There is nothing that will stop a conversation quicker than a shrug (聳肩) for an
answer. Activities
After you've made a friend who shares the same interests with you, it's always fun to plan activities together
that you'll both enjoy. Inviting a friend to your house after school is a great way to make your friendship closer.
If you know a game your friend likes to play, you can plan to do that together. When you play a computer
game, one person is always left sitting with nothing to do but watch Not fun.
1. Before you make friends with someone, make sure _____.
A. both of you are exactly like each other
B. both of you enjoy some of the same interests
C. you have talked to him or her at lunch or rest about your hobbies
D. you have little in common with each other
2. When you want to make friends with someone, you should do all the following except _____.
A. smiling at him or her before talking
B. starting a conversation first
C. asking some questions about him or her
D. giving a shrug instead of an answer
3. To make your friendship last long, you shouldn't _____.
A. do something that interests both of you together
B. invite your friend to your house at weekends
C. be always doing something by yourself with your friend left doing nothing
D. play basketball together in your free time
