Rent(出租)a room
Spare room? Not only will a lodger (房客) earn you some money, but also, thanks to the government-backed “rent a room” program, you won’t have to pay any tax (稅) on the first £4,500 you make per year. Try advertising your room on Roomspare or Roommateeasy.
Make money during special events
Don’t want a full-time lodger? Then rent on a short-term basis (基礎(chǔ)). If you live in the capital, renting a room out during the Olympics or other big events could bring in money. Grashpadder can advertise your space.
Use your roof (屋頂)
You need the right kind of roof, but some energy companies pay the cost of fixing solar equipment (around£14,000), and let you use the energy produced for nothing. For thousands of years, people have used plants to make medicines. They used different parts of the plants —the roots, the leaves, the flowers, and the bark (樹皮). Today, doctors have rediscovered more medicinal (藥用) values of some plants. Let’s look at some examples.
Foxglove is a common plant. People have used it to make the heart slow down. Recently scientists have developed another drug from it. This new drug helps prevent other heart problems.
In some areas, malaria has been a problem. Scientists have learned that the bark of a South American tree, the cinchona, can be made into a drug to prevent malaria. For a long time, the Chinese have known that a special plant, wormwood, can also fight malaria. Scientists have been working with it to develop new drugs against malaria.
In Germany, some scientists studied garlic (大蒜) for four years. They found that it helps prevent the build-up of plaque (血小板) because too much plaque is bad for health. This very common plant continues to be studied.
As we know, there are about 250,000 kinds of flowering plants in the world. Scientists have only studied little more than one percent of plants for their medicinal value. Maybe medicines for AIDS and cancer will be made from the other 99 percent.

In one way of thinking, failure is part of life. In   26  way, failure may be a way towards success. The “Spider-story” is often   27 Robert Bruce, leader of the Scots in the 13th century, was hiding in a cave from the English. He watched a spider  28 a web. The spider tried to reach across a rough   29 in the rock. He tried six times. On the   30  time he made it and went on to make his web. Bruce is said to have been encouraged by this and to have gone on to   31 the English. Edison, the inventor of the light bulb, made 32 models that failed before he found the right way to make one. Once he was asked   33 he kept on trying to make a new type of battery when he had failed so often, he replied, “Failure? I have   34 failures. Now I know 50,000 ways it won't   35”.
So what? First, always think about your failure. What caused  36  ?Were conditions right? Were you in top from yourself? What can you change? So things will go   37 next times.
Second, is the goal(目標(biāo) ) you're trying to reach the right one? Try to do some   38 about what your real goals may be. Think about this question. “If I do succeed in this, where will it get me?" This may help you prevent failure in things you shouldn't be doing any way.
The third thing to keep in   39 about failure is that it's a part of life. Learn to “l(fā)ive with yourself" even though you may have   40
