Dear Lora,

I read your letter in the magazine.I know that you want to work part-time this summer. But your parents don't agree with you.

I think your parents may have their reasons. They may regard learning as the most important task for you.Perhaps they'd like you to make use of this summer holiday to study.Besides, they may think you are too young to work.

My advice for you is this:you'd better have a talk with your parents. If they agree, you should make a detailed plan for your study and work, ask your friends to work together with you,and tell your parents not to worry about you because you are old enough to manage things properly.

Anyway,I wish you a pleasant summer.

                                                          Yours truly,

Is Recycling Textbook a Good suggestion?

On behalf of our group, I’d like to give a brief summary of our discussion on the topic “Is Recycling Textbook a Good Suggestion?” As we know, when high school students graduate from school, their textbooks are thrown away, which are still in good condition. What a great waste it is!

A suggestion has been put forward that we should recycle the textbooks. Some students in my group agree to this suggestion. For one thing, recycling textbooks can save a lot of natural resources, which are used to make textbooks. And it can also save plenty of family expenses. For another, in western countries, recycling textbooks is very popular and it gives us a good example. But some have different opinions about it, for the content of the textbooks are often renewed. What’s more, it is not proper to make notes in the textbooks. But in my opinion, this is a wonderful idea because this will do good to both the government and the families.

你校英語俱樂部開展“Problem Solver”的活動(dòng),就解決學(xué)習(xí)生活中一些問題交流自己的體驗(yàn)和感想。你們這次交流的話題是“How to live with pressure”。

How to Live with Pressure

I used to feel pressured to do well in exams. I was so afraid of falling behind that I kept thinking about studying every minute of the day. The pressure made me out of breath. To my disappointment, the more worried I was about my studies, the less efficient I became. Later, I realized I just took pressure too seriously. So I tried taking things easy by taking part in various activities out of class, enjoying music and even daydreaming about fun things. To my delight, this worked! Gradually, I became less anxious about exams and began to take pleasure in my studies.

Pressure cannot be avoided. What counts is how to deal with it properly, and above all, how to turn it into pleasure or challenge.

With the new fuel tax policy taking effect on January 1, more and more people show their great concerns about what it brings to their life.

Some people are in favor of the policy. They think it is reasonable and fair to carry out the policy, because the more the oil consumption, the more money the drivers pay, which can avoid the unnecessary driving They also think when the policy will help to reduce air pollution and benefit environment. In their opinion, fuel tax can raise the awareness of using oil efficiently.

However, others are against it. For one thing, they think China is a developing country, so we can't do as the developed countries do. For another, the new fuel policy may increase the fuel price. Drivers will pay higher fuel consumption taxes and may be overburdened. Also, they hold the opinion that the new policy may cause more unemployment. As a result, there might be some other social problems.

Dear Sir/Madam,

Recently I have heard about some news that many Project Hope Schools in some areas have been deserted. At the news I feel very sad. After all, these Project Hope Schools increase children’s chances of going to school and play an important part in improving the local people’s level of education and thus further their quality of life.

Why are they deserted On the one hand, before these schools began to be built, there was a lack of scientific long-term planning and predictions of the development of Chinese education, especially that in the local areas. Therefore, the distribution of schools isn’t reasonable. On the other hand, owing to the social development and the declining population, it’s unnecessary for so many schools to exist.

So when we build schools, we must be aware of their development in the future and consider whether there’s l long-term need. And for those deserted schools, they should be made the best of and continue to serve the local areas.

                                                             Sincerely yours,

Should Science and Arts Education Be Separated?

The issue of separating science and arts education is getting heated up as debate spreads throughout the country, which attracts tens of thousands of votes.  About 50% of the people interviewed think it unwise to get arts and science separated in high school. In their opinion, a real expert needs a wide range of knowledge, With the development of modern society, multi-skilled people are in great demand, However, over 40% of them insist that they should be separated so that students can concentrate on some subjects and become experts, Besides, they will not be overburdened as before.

As far as I’m concerned, a comprehensive education si better than a separated one, A strong ability in both science and arts is helpful for the long-term development of individuals and the society as a whole, Worldwide, only in China science and arts are separated , which has had a bad effect on students’ sound development. It’s high time we changed this model, I don’t think comprehensive education will put a heavy burden on the students,

Reject throwaway chopsticks now!

Dear friends,

Do you know why sandstorms and landslides are happening more frequently than ever in recent years?

According to the recent statistics,forty-five billion pairs of throwaway chopsticks are produced in China,so twenty-five million trees have to be cut down every year.Environmentalists have warned that all the forests will be destroyed if we keep on making throwaway chopsticks at present speed.

As is known to us all, only 13% of the land in our country is covered with forests. And a lot of land is becoming sands each year because of too many trees being cut down.If we keep on doing this, our environment will become even worse. It is time for u to reject throwaway chopsticks.

Dear friends, let's take action from now on!

Dear Editor,

I’m a senior high student. Now many students use mobile phones .They think it’s a fashion to use mobile phones .Besides, it’s very convenient to get in touch with their families and friends by using mobile phones. But some students break the rules in class. They bring their mobile phones to the classroom and we often hear the ring of mobile phones in class. Some of them even waste precious time in class typing short messages on the mobile phones.

In my opinion, the classroom is a place for students to gain knowledge .Therefore quietness is badly needed for us to learn our lessons .Those with mobile phones shouldn’t take mobile phones to the classroom . We are supposed to concentrate on our studies. The school should make a rule to forbid the students to use mobile phones in the classroom.

What We High School Students Learn from the Global Financial Crisis

The global financial crisis broke out in 2008.which caused serious economic slide and

Increased job loss. What can we learn from it?

First, we should put all our heart into study to broaden our knowledge in various fields. Second, it is required that we should develop our abilities in many ways and improve our personal qualities to achieve our goals in this highly competitive society. Next , learning to cooperate with others is another thing we must do, because sense of teamwork contributes to success more quickly. Last but not least, as young generation in China. We’d better set our long-term plans meet what society needs.

At present I think only by working hard can our ability be fully embodied. I’ll spare no effort to study hard to achieve my goal.
