M:Do I have to? I’m a great driver with 15 years of driving experience!
W:The chances of being injured in a car accident this year are 1 in 75. I think that’s worth thinking about seriously.
M:I’ve never had a serious accident.
W:My brother was not as lucky as you. Last December he was almost killed in an accident. He wasn’t wearing a seatbelt.
W:Wow, that’s terrible.
W:Fastening your seatbelt should be an automatic thing as soon as you get into your car. But too many people still refuse to wear seatbelts.
M:OK. I get the message. From now on I’ll wear my seatbelt.

【題目】It was the summer of 1965. DeLuca, then 17, visited Peter Buck, a family friend. Buck asked DeLuca about his plans for the future. “I’m going to college, but I need a way to pay for it,” DeLuca recalls saying. “Buck said, ‘You should open a sandwich shop.’ ”
That afternoon, they agreed to be partners. And they set a goal: to open 32 stores in ten years. After doing some research, Buck wrote a check for $1000. DeLuca rented a storefront(店面) in Connecticut, and when they couldn’t cover their start-up costs, Buck kicked in another $1000.
But business didn’t go smoothly as they expected. DeLuca says, “After six months, we were doing poorly, but we didn’t know how badly, because we didn’t have any financial controls.” All he and Buck knew was that their sales were lower than their costs.
DeLuca was managing the store and going to the University of Bridgeport at the same time. Buck was working at his day job as a nuclear physicist in New York. They’d meet Monday evenings and brainstorm ideas for keeping the business running. “We convinced ourselves to open a second store. We figured we could tell the public, ‘We are so successful, we are opening a second store.’ ” And they did—in the spring of 1966. Still, it was a lot of learning by trial and error.
But the partners’ learn-as-you-go approach turned out to be their greatest strength. Every Friday, DeLuca would drive around and hand-deliver the checks to pay their suppliers. “It probably took me two and a half hours and it wasn’t necessary, but as a result, the suppliers got to know me very well, and the personal relationships established really helped out,” DeLuca says.
And having a goal was also important. “There are so many problems that can get you down. You just have to keep working toward your goal,” DeLuca adds.
DeLuca ended up founding Subway Sandwich, the multimillion-dollar restaurant chain.

【題目】根據(jù)短文內(nèi)容,從短文后的選項(xiàng)中選出能填入空白處的最佳選項(xiàng)。選項(xiàng)中有兩項(xiàng)為多余選項(xiàng)。
Doctors say anger can be an extremely damaging emotion, unless you learn how to deal with it. They warn that anger can lead to heart disease, stomach problems, headaches, emotional problems and possibly cancer.
Some people express anger openly in a calm reasonable way. Others burst with anger, and scream and yell. But other people keep their anger inside. They can not or will not express it. This is called repressing anger.
For years many doctors thought that repressing anger was more dangerous to a person's health than expressing it. They said that when a person is angry, the brain releases the same hormones (荷爾蒙). They speed the heart rate, raise blood pressure, or sugar into the blood, etc.
Some doctors say that both repressing and expressing anger can be dangerous. They believe that those who express anger violently may be more likely to develop heart disease, and they believe that those who keep anger inside may face a greater danger of high blood pressure.
They say the first step is to admit that you are angry and to recognize the real cause of the anger, then decide if the cause is serious enough to get angry about. If it is, they say, “ Wait until your anger has cooled down and you are able to express yourself calmly and reasonably.”
Doctors say that a good way to deal with anger is to find humor in the situation that has made you angry.
A. In general the person feels excited and ready to act
B. They said that laughter is much healthier than anger.
C. Expressing anger violently is more harmful than repressing it
D. Anger may cause you a cancer.
E. Do not express your anger while angry.
F. Anger is a normal emotion that we all feel from time to time
G. Doctors say the solution is learning how to deal with anger.

We are scheduled to attend the exam on June 7th and 8th, on the first day of that Chinese and math will be test, the second day physics, chemistry, biology and English. At first, I felt a little bit nervous but soon I calmed down because I came to realize that Chinese and math was very easy and English is my favorite subjects. So I suppose I can get the good marks which will enable me to enter my ideal college. Best wishes!

【題目】The Indian government may use 3D paintings as virtual speed breakers(減速帶) on major highways and roads, in order to check speeding and careless driving, and finally make its deadly roads a little safer. "We are trying out 3D paintings used as virtual speed breakers to avoid unnecessary requirements of speed breakers," India's transport minister Nitin Gadkari wrote.
The optical illusions(視覺錯(cuò)覺) are supposed to encourage drivers to slow down automatically. Earlier, India had ordered the removal of all speed breakers from highways, which are considered to be a safety hazard for high-speed vehicles. India has the highest number of road accident deaths in the world. According to the World Health Organisation, over 200000 people are killed by road accidents.
The use of optical illusions as speed breakers was first pioneered in the American city of Philadelphia in 2008, as part of a campaign against speeding motorists. The technique has also been tried out in China to create floating 3D crossings. In India, cities such as Ahmedabad and Chennai have already experimented with 3D zebra crossings in the last one year. In Ahmedabad for instance, a mother and her daughter, both artists, have painted 3D crosswalks in the first few months of 2016. The artists say their motto is "to increase the attention of drivers", and that the concept has been successfully tested in accident-prone zones on a highway.
However, critics argue that once drivers know that these speed breakers are visual illusions, they may ignore them. Others also point out that India's decision does not consider the safety of a large number of pedestrians. In the end, the new policy may be just one step towards improving road safety.
【1】Why are 3D paintings used on main highways and roads?
A. To make the surroundings more beautiful.
B. To attract the attention of tourists.
C. To reduce the rate of traffic accidents.
D. To show the advanced technology.
【2】Which of the following words is closest to the meaning of “hazard” in paragraph 2?
A. Reminder B. Threat
C. Regulation D. Theory
【3】What can we learn from Paragraph 3 and 4?
A. The use of optical illusions as speed breakers is controversial in India.
B. Philadelphia is the second place to use virtual speed breakers in the US.
C. The idea tested in Ahmedabad recently has been a failure.
D. The new policy of 3D zebra crossings must be carried out.
