When something goes wrong,it can be very satisfying to say,”Well, it’s so-and-so’s fault.” or “I know I’m late, but it’s not my fault;the car broke down.”It is probably not your fault, but once you form the habit of blaming somebody or something else for a bad situation, you are a loser. You have no power and could do nothing that helps change the situation. However, you can have great power over what happens to you if you stop focusing on whom to blame and start focusing on how to remedy the situation. This is the winner’s key to success.
Winners are great at overcoming problems. For example, if you were late because your car broke down, maybe you need to have your car examined more regularly. Or, you might start to carry along with you the useful phone numbers, so you could call for help when in need. For another example, if your colleague causes you problems on the job for lack of responsibility or ability, find ways of dealing with his irresponsibility or inability rather than simply blame the person. Ask to work with a different person, or don’t rely on this person. You should accept that the person is not reliable and find creative ways to work successfully regardless of how your colleague fails to do his job well.
This is what being a winner is all about—creatively using your skills and talents so that you are successful no matter what happens. Winners don’t have fewer problems in their lives; they have just as many difficult situations to face as anybody else. They are just better at seeing those problems as challenges and opportunities to develop their own talents. So, stop focusing on “whose fault it is.” Once you are confident about your power over bad situations, problems are just stepping stone for success.

Everyone sleeps. However, taking the time to develop a sleep habit is probably the last thing on your mind and some sleep advice simply can’t be forgotten. 1. .
Watching TV until you fall asleep
It has nothing to do with what you watch--TV news isn’t a better pre-sleep choice than TV series. 2. . The bright light keeps you awake all the night. So even if you nod off (in front of the TV, for example), you probably won’t stay asleep for long.
Sleeping with pets
3. . They get comfortable, and then they move. This goes on all night, and whether you admit it or not, it interrupts your ability to get the level of sleep needed to feel rested.
Eating fatty, heavy foods too close to bedtime
Heartburn (燒心, 胃痛) strikes anyone of any age, but it’s the most common GI disorder (胃腸失調(diào)) in older adults. If you’ve ever tried to go to sleep after eating a fatty meal, you’ve probably found the discomfort of stomach preventing you from falling asleep or staying asleep.
4. Remember how poorly you sleep when you have a fever--turning over and over again, never really feeling rested? Well, heavy exercise too close to bedtime has the same effect--it raises your body temperature so that your sleep is disturbed until your body temperature drops to normal, which may take several hours.
Accepting snoring (打呼嚕) as normal sleep behavior
Snoring may seem as common as breathing, but it’s considered the biggest sleep killer, and it’s linked to several causes: sleeping on your back, being overweight, having a cold, drinking, or taking drugs. 5. . For the snorer, it disturbs sleep by awakening him/her every so often in order to breathe normally. For the partner, the noise can be unbearable.
A. Exercising heavily too close to bedtime
B. Here are some suggestions you’ll need to follow
C. Reducing your body temperature before bedtime
D. Rather it’s the TV’s bright light that is the criminal
E. Here are some bad habits you need to get rid of
F. Most seriously, it’s caused by a dangerous illness
G. Pets sleep most of the day, and they move a lot when sleeping

Are you a dog person or a cat person?
With so many photos and videos of cats and dogs doing cute things online, it’s easier than ever to answer which of these furry friends you like more. There are many reasons why people prefer one type of pet over the other. So, have you ever wondered what your preference for cats or dogs says about you?
In fact, a 2010 study done by Sam Gosling, a psychologist at the University of Texas, US, and his graduate student Carson Sandy found that dog people are more extroverted (外向的), agreeable and con- scientious (認(rèn)真的) than cat people.
“Cats will occasionally engage in social activities, but usually after only a few minutes they will abandon the game. Dogs, on the other hand, will often engage in play, like fetching a thrown ball, for hours at a time,” said Modern Dog magazine.
Just on the basis of dogs’ nature being more sociable than cats’, you may expect that the personalities of dog people also reflect higher sociability. And Gosling’s study found that dog people are generally about 15 percent more extroverted and 13 percent more agreeable, both of which are linked with social orientation (態(tài)度).
In addition, dog people are 11 percent more conscientious than cat people. “Conscientiousness” is a tendency (趨勢(shì)) to show self-discipline (自律), to complete tasks and aim for achievement. This trait (特點(diǎn)) also shows a preference for planned rather than spontaneous (一時(shí)沖動(dòng)的) behavior.
In comparison, cat people are about 12 percent more anxious, but they are also 11 percent more “open” than dog people, due to a general appreciation for art, emotion, imagination, curiosity, adventure, unusual ideas and variety of experience. And people high on openness are more likely to hold unconventional (非傳統(tǒng)的) beliefs.
Despite vast differences, there are some things that cat people and dog people have in common. “Both types of people consider themselves close to nature, dislike animal-print clothing and are generally optimists,” noted Mother Nature Network.
1.What does the article mainly talk about?
A. Differences between dogs and cats in their personality traits.
B. Factors that influence people’s preference for dogs or cats.
C. How raising a pet helps shape your personality.
D. What your preference for dogs or cats tells about you.
2.The underlined phrase “engage in” in the fourth paragraph probably means______.
A. get involved in B. benefit from
C. take little interest in D. perform well in
3.According to the study done by Sam Gosling, dog owners tend to ______ than cat owners.
A. be more imaginative and creative
B. live a more organized life
C. love to get close to nature more
D. be more easygoing and adventurous
4.According to the article, both dog people and cat people ______.
A. are generally self-disciplined
B. are usually positive and care about nature
C. are likely to hold unconventional beliefs
D. like to wear animal-print clothing
