7.Over the past 16years,the population of the Amish people           to 230,000,with roughly 5children per family.( 。
A.had nearly doubledB.has nearly doubled
C.nearly doubledD.has nearly been doubling

分析 在過(guò)去的16年里,亞米希人的人口數(shù)將近增加了一倍達(dá)到了23萬(wàn),每個(gè)家庭大約有5個(gè)孩子.

解答 答案:B
根據(jù)句中的時(shí)間狀語(yǔ)"Over the past 16years"可知,此處表示在過(guò)去的16年里發(fā)生的事情,即人口數(shù)將近增加了一倍;故應(yīng)使用現(xiàn)在完成時(shí);A.

18.The need to feed a growing population is putting much pressure on the world's supply of water. With 97% of the world's water too salty to be drunk or used in agriculture, the worldwide Supply of water needs careful management, especially in agriculture,Although the idea of a water shortage(短缺)seems strange to someone fortunate enough to live in a high rainfall country, many of the world's agricultural industries experience constant water shortages.
Although dams can be built to store water for agricultural use in dry areas and dry seasons, the costs of water redistribution(重新分配) are very high. Not only is there the co st of the engineering itself, but there is also an environmental cost to be considered.Where valleys(山谷) are flooded to create dams, houses are lost and wildlife homes destroyed.Besides, water may flow easily through pipes to fields, but it cannot be transported from one side of the world to the other. Each country must therefore rely on the management of its own water to supply its farming requirements.
This is particularly troubling for countries with agricultural industries in areas dependent on irrigation(灌溉).In Texas, farmers'overuse of irrigation water has resulted in a 25% reduction of the water stores,In the Central Valley area of southwes tern USA,a huge water engineering project provided water for farming in dry valleys, but much of the water use has been poorly managed.
Saudi Arabia's attempts to grow wheat in desert areas have seen the pumping of huge quantities of irrigation(灌溉) water from underground reserves.Because there is no rainfall in these areas, such reserves can only decrease, and it is believed that fifty years of pumping will see them run dry.

72.From the first two paragraphs we learn thatC

74.What is most likely to be discussed in the paragraph that follows?A
A.Steps to improving water use management.

2.SOMA,F(xiàn)ukushima Dai-ichi-High levels of radiation leaked from a damaged nuclear plant in tsunami-stricken northeast after a third reactor was shaken by an explosion Tuesday and a fourth caught fire in a dramatic increase of the 4-day-old disaster.The government warned 140,000people nearby to stay indoors to avoid exposure.
In a nationally televised statement,Prime Minister Naoto Kan said radiation has spread from four reactors of the Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear plant in Fukushima state,one of the hardest-hit in Friday's 9.0-magnitude earthquake and the following tsunami that has killed more than 10,000people,put millions into misery and hit again the world's third-largest economy.

Kan and other officials warned there is danger of more leaks and told people living within 30kilometers of the Fukushima Dai-ichi groups of buildings to stay indoors to avoid exposure that could make people sick.
Weather forecasts for Fukushima were for snow and wind from the northeast Tuesday evening,blowing southwest toward Tokyo,then shifting and blowing west out to sea.That's important because it shows which direction a possible nuclear cloud might blow.
The nuclear crisis is the worst that the country has faced since the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki during World War II.It is also the first time that such a serious nuclear threat has been raised in the world since a nuclear power plant in Chernobyl,Ukraine exploded in 1986.
Some 70,000people had already been moved from a 20-kilometer radius from the Dai-ichi complex and about 140,000remain in the zone for which the new warning was issued.
Millions of people spent a fourth night with little food,water or heating in near-freezing temperatures as they dealt with the loss of homes and loved ones.Asia's richest country hasn't seen such hardship since World War II.

63.What does the passage mainly talk about?A
A.Radiation level increasing in the country.B.The nuclear plant in Fukushima.
C.The earthquake and tsunami in Fukushima.D.A nationally televised statement.
64.How did the disaster come about in Fukushima?B
①a 9.0-magnitude earthquake       ②a nuclear plant fire
③a deadly tsunami                ④high-level radiation
A.④①②③B.①③②④C.②①④③D.③①②④
65.What is the biggest threat to Fukushima?D
A.The 9.0-magnitude earthquake.B.The tsunami.
C.The nuclear plant fire.D.The nuclear radiation.
66.We can infer from the passage thatA.
A.radioactivity is being released directly into the atmosphere
B.it is the first time that such a serious nuclear threat has been raised in the world
C.People in the country have never faced any other nuclear crisis
