One year ago, I had a special English lesson hold at the railway station. It was quite different from the regular English classes we were familiar to, for we had no textbooks, no blackboard and no fixed seats.
Gathered at the entrance of the station, we were told to collect as much English words and sentence as possible there. Curious and excited, we walked around the station and looked everywhere, search for any information in English. Whenever an English word comes into sight, the class would burst into the cheers as if we had discovered a new world. With the Chinese translation and vividly pictures, we could figure out its meaning with ease.
Now, this unforgettable lesson still encourages me to be an active learner where I go.

Yoga(瑜伽)is an ancient practice that helps create a sense of union body, mind, and spirit. It brings us balance. After a long time of practicing yoga, you no longer just practice it — you love it.
Yoga becomes part of your physical life. Your body grows stronger, more toned(有彈性的), and more flexible as you move from one pose to another. I spent a week in Mexico at a yoga retreat, and it was the first vacation on which I lost weight. “Rather than building muscles, yoga builds muscle tone,”says Shakta Kaur Khalsa, author of KISS Guide to Yoga. “Because yoga helps maintain a balanced metabolism(新陳代謝), and it also helps to control weight.Additionally, yoga stretches muscles lengthwise, causing fat around the cells disappear, thus losing weight.”
I do yoga poses throughout the day. After hours at my computer, I stretch my stiff shoulders and arms. When I need an increase in energy, I do energizing poses. When I am feeling exhausted at the end of the day, I do restorative(恢復(fù)體力的)poses.
Yoga becomes part of your mental life. Yoga teaches you to focus on breathing while you hold the poses. This attention to breath is calming; it dissolves(使消除)stress and anxiety. I use yogic breathing on the tennis court, in the dentist’s chair, and when I’m stuck in traffic.
You should always leave a yoga practice feeling energized, but not tired. If you feel tired after yoga,it means you spent the time “fighting” yourself, trying to force yourself into poses. In yoga, you “surrender” to the poses by letting go of the tension.
1.According to the second paragraph, yoga can help people ___.
A. lose weight B. make friends
C. be flexible in thinking D. grow tall
2.Why does a person feel tired after yoga?
A. Because when practicing yoga, people will consume a lot of energy.
B. Because he or she surrenders to the poses by letting go of the tension.
C. Because he o she doesn’t do yoga poses naturally.
D. Because yoga doesn’t benefit all the people.
3.What would be the best title for this passage?
A. What’s yoga? B. The benefits of yoga.
C. How do I do yoga poses? D. The varieties of yoga.
4.What will be talked about if this passage continues?
A. The disadvantages of yoga.
B. Yoga is becoming popular all over the world.
C. Encouraging people to do yoga.
D. Yoga is becoming part of your spiritual life.

Andy lived high in the Rocky Mountains. He hunted wild animals there and he also took other men to hunt, which was his work.

The next day; Andy saw some sheep right out in the open. He and his sons walked toward them. They did not try to hide, and they did walk slowly. They knew that any fast move would frighten them away.

You know the saying "You're as young as you feel." Well, there may be some truth t, according to that, according to researchers at Harvard and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Ellen Langer, a Harvard psychologist who studies how the mind influences the body, and colleagues reviewed the scientific literature for evidence that a person’s perception of their age might influence their health. They published their results in the journal Perspectives on Psychological Science.
In one study that Langer led, 47 women had their hair done. The women who thought their new hairdos made them look younger did look younger to objective observers, who were shown before-and-after pictures. The women who thought they looked younger also showed a drop in blood pressure. Another study involving 4,421 men found that thise who became bald(禿頂)at a relatively young age were more likely to get cancer and heart disease than men who did not. Similarly, another study involving 2,017 men found that those who lost their hair early were more likely to develop heart disease. “We believe that the feelings associated with being older than one’s real age account for some of these health outcomes,” the researchers wrote.
The researchers also described studies that found that women who had children later in life were more likely to be healthier and live longer than those who had children early, which they attributed to the fact that these mothers tend to spend more time with younger women. Similarly, people who marry younger partners tend to live longer than those who marry older partners, according to other studies.
Taken together, the research “supports the general mind-body hypothesis(假說)that when a younger mind is prepared, a younger body can accompany it.” While the mechanism remains unclear, the researchers figured that suggestions associated with aging can “make one unconsciously or consciously aware of old age and set in motion a series of physiological processes that can have real effects on short-term and long-term health.”
1.The underlined word “perception” in Paragraph 2 means .
A. view
B. appearance
C. influence
D. creation
2.Which of the following statements is true according to Paragraph 3?
A. Blood pressure is highly related to hairdos.
B. Feeling older than real age may be tied to health problems.
C. Getting cancer or heart disease is the cause of hair losing.
D. The women who love hairdos look younger than those don’t.
3.It can be inferred from Paragraph 4 that .
A. a younger mother is more likely to live longer
B. the younger one of a couple lives much longer
C. often staying with younger people can benefit people’s health
D. people who want to live longer need to marry young
4.The passage mainly tells us that .
A. Getting bald too early is not good to marry young
B. Women had better give birth later in their life
C. Feeling younger to a couple is very important to their health
D. People’s feeling of their age may have an effect on their own health
