In recent years, internet voting has become increasingly popular in China. People not only cast on-line votes themselves, but also urge others to vote for competitions like the “Most Beautiful Teacher” and the “Cutest Baby”.
Li Jiang, a high school student, is invitedto vote in the “ Best Police Officer " competition, organized by the local government to let the public have a better understanding of police officers’ daily work. Li Jiang visits the website and reads all the stories. He is deeply moved by their glorious deeds. He is already thinking of becoming a policeman himself in the future.
Su Hua is invited by his uncle to vote for his cousin in the “ Future Singer" competition. He has already received three similar invitations this week. His uncle tells him that if his cousin wins the competition, the family will win an overseas tour for free. Su Hua likes his cousin very much, but he finds other singers perform even better. To vote, or not to vote? This is a question that troubles him very much.

【答案】On-line voting becomesincreasingly popular, and many competitions get people involved in it. It is beneficial to some people, while it puts others into a dilemma over whether to vote or not.
In my opinion, on-linevoting is an inseparable part of modern life and should be welcomed, since it isno more than a way to participate in public life. It makes no difference from ordinaryvoting events, in which candidates go around to seek supports. In addition, theInternet makes surveying and voting easy and convenient, regardless of time andspace. Furthermore, voting on the Internet makes instant feedback possible.
To be honest, voters sometimesfeel annoyed, not because they hate voting, but because they are divided betweenemotion and fairness. Things will turn for the better if we can work out some participationrules for people to obey. Therefore, I hold a positive attitude towards on- linevoting.

Possibl eversion two:
Internet voting is quite popular nowadays. Many people are somewhat puzzled at the negative side of the voting, although some are quite happy with it, and active in doing it.
In my opinion, internetvoting has begun to show its negative impacts on people and society. Firstly, peoplemay feel forced when asked to do things that they don’t want to. Secondly, votingof this kind does not depend on the strong points of the competitors, but ratheron how many social-networking resources they have. Thirdly, the voters or even thecompetitors in many cases are possibly taken advantage of by the organizers forcommercial purposes.
In short, internet voting,to some extent, is unfair, if not immoral, and cannot be trusted. Therefore, rulesshould be worked out and strictly observed. Everyone in our society should helpthose in need, but it is more important to be sincere and earnest.

【題目】Getting rid of dirt(灰塵), in the opinion of most people, is a good thing. However, there is nothing fixed about attitudes to dirt.
In the early 16th century, people thought that dirt on the skin was a way to block out disease, as medical opinion had it that washing off dirt with hot water could open up the skin and let illnesses in. A particular danger was thought to lie in public baths. By 1538, the French king bad closed the bath houses in his kingdom. So did the king of England in 1546. Thus it began a long time when the rich and the poor in Europe lived with dirt in a friendly way. Henry IV, King of France, was famously dirty. Upon learning that a nobleman had taken bath, the king ordered that, to avoid the attack of disease, the nobleman should not go out.
Though the belief in the merit of dirt was long-lived, dirt has no longer been regarded as a nice neighbor ever since the 18th century. Scientically speaking, cleaning away dirt is good to health. Clean water supply and hand washing are practical means of preventing disease. Yet, it seems that standards of cleanliness have moved beyond science since World War ll. Advertisements repeatedly sell the idea: clothes need to be whiter than white, cloths ever softer, surfaces to shine. Has the hate for dirt, however, gone too far?
Attitudes to dirt still differ hugely nowadays. Many first-time parents nervously try to warm(警告)their children of touching dirt, which might be responsible for the spread of disease. On the contrary, Mary Ruebush, an American immunologist(免疫學(xué)家), encourages children to play in the dirt to build up a strong immune system. And the latter position is gaining some ground.

【題目】Leading experts on the Internet, technology and policy have shared the same opinion on what we can expect in the next decade when it comes to connectivity and its effects on society.
The Pew Research Center report asked thousands of experts and members of the public for opinions on “the most significant overall influences of our uses of the Internet on humanity” — and some had a rosier outlook than others.
“The smartest person in the world nowadays could well be stuck behind a plough in India or China,” said Hal, Google's chief economist.“Enabling that person — and the millions like him or her — will have a strong effect on the development of the human race.”
Early Internet pioneer David Hughes agreed: “When every person on this planet can communicate twoway with every other person on this planet, the power of nation states to control every human inside its geographic boundaries may start to disappear.”
Wearables (electronic equipment that people can wear) could monitor more than just steps, predicted UC Berkeley's Aron Roberts — or do more than just monitor: “We may literally be able to adjust both medications and lifestyle changes on a daybyday basis or even an hourbyhour basis.”
Microsoft Research's Jonathan Grudin is more pessimistic (悲觀的): “By making so much activity visible, it exposes the gap between the way people behave and the way we think they ought to behave.Adjusting to this will be an unending, difficult task.”
And the difference between the rich and the poor will have a new aspect: “Only the welloff (and welleducated) will know how to preserve their privacy,” warned one expert.“Will the Internet make it possible for our entire civilization to fall down together, in one big awful step? Possibly,” admitted Harvard's Doctor Searles.“But the Internet has already made it possible for us to use one of our unique advantages — the ability to share knowledge — to a degree higher than ever before.”
【1】According to Hal, in the future, those who will influence the development of human race are________.
A. Google's economists B. Chinese and Indians
C. the educated persons D. world leading experts
【2】People will be able to change their lifestyles at any time according to________.
A. the development of communication skills
B. the suggestions made by computer experts
C. the prediction made by the home computers
D. the data recorded by the computers worn on body
【3】The underlined word “this” in Paragraph 6 refers to________.
A. the visible activities mentioned above
B. the way we thought they ought to behave
C. the way people really behave in life
D. the rule people ought to obey in life
【4】Which of the following can best express the meaning of the last paragraph?
A. Advantages and disadvantages of the Internet.
B. Development of the Internet and human beings.
C. Knowledge and civilization of human beings.
D. Possibilities of the Internet for the future users.
