In the United States, headmasters and teachers discipline students in several ways. The teacher often writes to or calls the students' parents. Sometimes students have to stay at school for one hour. If a student behaves (表現(xiàn),) very badly, the headmaster can stop the student having class. When this happens, the student may be very happy. "A holiday!" He thinks. Mr. Lazares, the headmaster of a middle school in Ohio, doesn't like to do so.
One day, a boy was in Mr. Lazares' office. The boy didn't behave well in class. Mr. Lazares telephoned the boy's parents, "If you come to school with your son, I won't stop him having class," he said. The father came to school and went to every class with his son. Other Students looked at the boy and his father. The boy was embarrassed (尷尬). After that he behaved better. And, of course, other students behaved better, too.

A. Write to the students.
B. Let the students study in another class.

"Cool" is a word with many meanings. Its old meaning is used to express a temperature that is a little bit cold. As the world changes, the word has many different meanings.
"Cool" can be used to express feelings of interest in almost anything. When you see a famous car in the street, maybe you will say "It's cool." You may think, "He's so cool," when you see your favorite footballer.
We all maximize (擴大) the meaning of "cool". You can use it instead of many words such as "new" or "surprising". Here's an interesting story we can use to show the way the word is used. A teacher asked her students to write about the waterfall. On one student's paper was just the one sentence, "It's so cool". Maybe he thought it was the best way to show what he saw and felt.
But the story also shows a scarcity (缺乏) of words, it seems that some people have no words to show the same meaning without "cool" . Can you think of many other words that make your life as colorful as the word "cool"? Yes, I can. And I think they are also very cool.
1.We know that the word "cool" has ________.
A. only one meaning B. the same meaning
C. many different meanings D. two meanings
2. In the passage, the word "express" means"________".
A. see B. show C. know D. read
3. If you are ________ something, you may say, "It's cool."
A. interested in B. unhappy with
C. afraid of D. sad about.
4.In the passage, the writer suggests (暗示) that the word "cool"_________.
A. can be used instead of many words
B. may not be as cool as it seems
C. can make your life colorful.
D. may make your life cool

Better think twice before choosing a password for e-mail, online bank or shopping. Simple passwords are easy to be stolen(被偷).
A password is like a key to your home. If someone steals(偷) it, he’ll get chances to steal something else. We use passwords everywhere in our life. We are so used to passwords that we don’t pay any attention to(注意) them until we lose or forget one.
A study of 28,000 passwords recently stolen from a popular website showed that people often do the easy thing. It found that 16 percent took a first name as a password. Another 14 percent used the easiest keyboard combinations(鍵盤組合) such as 12345678 or QWERTY. 5 percent of the stolen passwords were names of television shows or stars popular with young people. 3 percent of the passwords expressed feelings like “I don’t care”, “whatever”, “I love you”, or their opposite(反義詞), “I hate you”.
Robert Graham, who did the study, advises people to choose a password that is longer than eight characters(字符) with one capital letter(大寫字母) and one symbol(符號).
Of course, safe passwords don’t mean those hard to remember. Forgetting your password is sometimes a big headache for you. Maybe, the best password is easy for you and hard for others.

A. 標志 B. 護照 C. 密碼 D. 口訣
