Arnold Pointer, a professional fisherman from the south of Australia, set free (釋放) a big female white shark that was    1   in his large fishing nets. He thought she would have more and more babies. But now the fisherman is facing a(n)    2   problem. The white shark is so    3   to him that for nearly 2 years she hasn’t left him    4  . She even follows him everywhere.   5  this, Arnold Pointer can’t do fishing — all the fishes are scared at her, and he doesn’t know    6   to do anymore.
It is hard to drive away such an almost 17-feet-long shark for Arnold Pointer. We all know the white sharks are protected   7  the wildlife conservation. At the same time, some special feeling has been    8   between Arnold and “Cindy”, the name the fisherman has given the white shark.
Arnold says, “Every time I stop the boat, she always comes to me, turns on her back and lets me pet (撫摸) her body and neck. She sings, turns her eyes, and moves her fins (鰭) up and down, hits the water   9 .”
Cindy is   10  an interesting animal that Arnold has to try to go fishing in different places. Doesn’t Cindy know what her action means? Maybe she really doesn’t understand.

Michael went back to Fullerton, his home town. His visit to Fullerton was very special to him. He was born there, he grew up there. But he hadn’t been back there since he finished high school.
He went to places he hadn’t gone to in years. He walked through the park and remembered the days he had walked through that same park with his friend. He passed by the field where he and his friends had played baseball every day after school. And he stood in front of the movie theater and thought about all the Saturday afternoons he had spent there, watching his favorite movie heroes and eating popcorn.
He did things he hadn’t done in a long time. He had some home-made ice cream at the ice cream shop. He rode on the merry-go-round in the park, and he went fishing at the lake. For a little while, he felt like a kid again.
He saw people he hadn’t seen in years. He visited several of his old neighbors. He said hello to the owners of the candy store near his house. And he also went to see Mrs. Riley, his tenth-grade science teacher.

For example, a person who is very good at math can go to a famous college but also can be a good football player .
This experience made me think again that I must try to find where my own interests might lead me . To be honest, it was not easy . However, I never felt sorry to choose this way because it helped me understand myself . If I took the College Entrance Examination,as we call it gaokao in China, it could never possibly do .

Although I had no time for it, I will still get to it in the future .
No doubt, gaokao provides a way of choosing those who are successful in their studies . But it is really important for all of us to rethink what “ talent ” really is today . This is because we now live in a world in which all of our other human qualities ( 品質)are needed for success, not just the high grade .
Ken Robinson once said, “ the society depends on different kinds of talents . ”  However, gaokao pays too attention  to a person’s grades but little to his other qualities. And it is these qualities that makes life colorful and fun .
As high school students, we can not change the present situation of eduction, but we are always free to think outside of the box . Although good school grade is still useful, I hope one day we will see our education also welcomes the amazing possibilities in different people .

A famous building in New York City is turning 100 years old. A year-long celebration is planned for Grand Central Terminal, which is usually called Grand Central station, the sixth most-visited place in the world.
The huge building has not changed much since it opened in February, 1913. About 750,000 people pass through Grand Central every day. Some just come to look at it, others to visit the stores. But most are there to catch the trains that enter and leave from the station. It is the largest train station in the world. There are 67 train tracks, all of them underground.
The main part of the building has large, arched windows, a jeweled four-sided clock and ticket windows. Grand Central has been seen in many movies through the years. Dan Brucker is with the New York Transit Authority, which operates the station. Dan Brucker has worked for the transit authority at Grand Central for 30 years. In all those years, he has not lost his interest in the building.
Justin Ferate, a historian, has been giving tours of Grand Central Station for 30 years. He says the station was designed to make travel a pleasure.
“Why people don't run into each other in Grand Central is simple: each block of stone in Grand Central is the length of your leg. Each block of stone in Grand Central is the length of your arm. Each block of stone is a different color, so it’s a checkerboard, based on you.”
