B Mother's Day is coming. A gentleman stopped his car out of a flower shop. He wanted to order a bunch of flowers and asked them to deliver them to his mother, who was far in his hometown.
He saw a girl crying on the road when he was about to enter the shop. The gentleman walked up to her and asked, "Little girl, why are you crying?"
"I want to buy a rose for my mother, but I don't have enough money," said the girl.
Hearing that, the gentleman felt sorry for the girl. "It was so. . . " Then he grasped the girl's hand and entered the flower shop. He first ordered the bouquet (;花束) for his mother and then bought a rose for the girl.
Walking out of the shop, the gentleman planned to drive the girl home.
"Would you really like to drive me home?"
"Of course!”
"Then would you please drive me to my mother? But sir,the place where my mother lives is very far from here."
Following the way the girl showed, the gentleman drove out of the downtown along the winding mountain road and finally came to the cemetery (墓地) .
The little girl put the flower close to a new grave. In order to present a rose to her mother who just passed away a month ago,she took a long journey.
The gentleman drove the girl to her home, and then he returned to the flower shop. He canceled the flower bunch to his mother but bought a big bunch of fresh flowers instead. He drove directly to his mother's home,a fivehour drive from here. He would present the flowers to his mother in person.

An American group developed the rooftop gardening in the early 1980s. The group is known as ECHO. This idea was to help people living in cities who did not have land to grow vegetables. And now it is becoming more and more popular in many other countries.
To build a rooftop garden four things are necessary. You need a roof strong enough and four pieces of wood to build a box. Grass cuttings in which to plant your garden and a thin piece of plastic on which to put the cut grass are also necessary.
Begin by testing (檢測(cè)) your roof to make sure it is strong enough. Cut and collect some grass. Cover the roof with a thin piece of plastic. Then you build a box from the four pieces of wood. The box has no top or bottom. It should be about 8cm deep. It can be as long and as wide as needed. Put the box on the plastic. Then fill it with the cut grass. Water the grass and push it down by walking on it. After about three weeks the rooftop box is ready for planting.
Put the seeds directly into the wet grass. It is important that the grass is kept wet until the plants begin to grow. When the plants are growing, you will need to water them every day unless it rains. And birds must be prevented from eating the seeds or new plants. They will also need some liquid fertilizer^液體化肥) .You can make your own liquid fertilizer if you can get wastes from chickens. Put the chicken wastes in a cloth bag. Then put the bag in a big container (容器) of water. After about one week, the water becomes a good liquid fertilizer.
The rooftop garden is a good place to grow peas, tomatoes and onions. If the box is deep enough, potatoes and carrots also will grow.

Hope for a Safer World Close your eyes. Make a wish. What is it? You may want to have a cool schoolbag or do well in school work. Some teens in Beijing have a different wish. They want a peaceful world. In it,everyone can live happily.
There is an environment group,Roots and Shoots (才艮與芽) in Beijing. And,it had something for the teens to do on Sundays. It asked the teens to make a wish for World Peace Day. So,the young people got together to sing peace songs. They also "flew" some peace doves outside. That white bird means peace and love around the world.
The large doves were not real doves. They were made out of pieces of cloth. Students took them outside. Many countries do things like this for World peace Day every year.
