Miss Evans was going to give a lecture (講座) on Friday afternoon. But on Thursday night she was told that she had to go to an important meeting the next day at the same time. “No one can be in two places at the same time. What shall I do?” she thought. But soon, she had an idea. At five to three on Friday afternoon, Miss Evans went to the lecture room. There were twenty students waiting there for her. “I'm sorry,” she told them, “I won't be able to give my lecture today.” The students looked surprised. Miss Evans explained(解釋) that she had an important meeting. “However,” she went on, “though I can't be with you myself, my voice can.” Then she put a small tape recorder (錄音機) on the desk, “You see, I've recorded my lecture and you can listen to it without me.” Miss Evans turned on the recorder and left.
The meeting ended a little early. Miss Evans decided to go back to her students. She stood for a moment outside the lecture room, listening to her own voice. Then quickly, she opened the door. To her surprise, the room was empty. As she looked around, she saw a number of small recorders “l(fā)istening” to her lecture!

China Youth says that more and more girl students have entered colleges to study in the recent few years. As we know, once the number of boys was larger than that of girls and boys did much better than girls in our country for a long time. Now, things have changed a lot.
In recent years, the proportion of girl students is growing fast. In 1998, about 39.7% of college students were girls. In 2000, it was 41.07% and in 2001, the number was 42.14%.
There are several reasons for this.
Firstly, there is little difference between boys and girls in their intelligence(智力). That’s to say, girls are as clever as boys. And boys have more interests than girls, so they may not always do well in their study.

Happiness is for everyone, and you don’t need to care about those people who have beautiful houses with         and swimming pools or those who have nice cars         a lot of money and so on. Why? Because those who have big houses may often         lonely and those who have cars may want to walk on the country roads in their free time.
In fact, happiness is always around you if you put your heart into it. When you are  in         at school, your friends will help you; when you study at your lessons, your parents are always         good care of your life and your health; when you get        , your friends will say congratulations to you; when you do something wrong, people around you will help you to         it. And when you do something good to others, you will feel        , too. All these are your happiness. If you notice those things, you can see that happiness is always         you.
Happiness is not the same as money. It is a feeling of your heart. When you are        , you can also say you are very happy because you have something else that can’t be bought with money. When you meet difficulties, you can say loudly you are very happy because you have more chances to         yourself. So you cannot always say you are poor or you have bad luck. As the saying goes: Life is like a revolving(轉動的)door. When it        , it also opens. If you take every chance you get, you can be a happy and lucky person.
