Everybody has ambitions: An ambition is something we want to do, want to be, or want to have. A student's ambition, for example, might be to pass his or her exams and then get a good job. A player's ambition could be to win an important competition. A businessman's ambition is usually to make a lot of money.
Not all ambitions are about success at work, however. Some people just want to be good people, have a happy family or help others.
Ben's ambition is to be a sports writer. He writes the sports reports for his class newspaper. He likes sports best, and swimming and football are his favorites. Mary's ambition is to be an artist. She is very serious about it and practices drawing every day with her best friend, Lily. It's important to her. Harry's ambition changes every day. Today he wants to be an astronaut like Yang Liwei who made the first space flight in China. The next day be wants to be a pop singer. Some day he wants to drive racing car. But his mother would be happy if his ambition was to, get up in time for school every day.

People of Burlington are being disturbed by the sound of bells. said John Norris, one of the protesters.
“ 19 we must have these noisy trucks on the roads,” said Jean Lacey, a biology student, “why don’t they build a new road that goes round the town? Burlington isn’t much more than a 20 village. Its streets were never meant for heavy traffic”.
Harry Fields also studying 21 said they wanted to make as much noise as possible to force the government officials to realize what everybody was having to stand. “Most of them don’t live here anyway,” he said, “they come in for meetings and the Town Hall is soundproof(隔音的), so they probably don’t 22 . It’s high time they realized the problem.” The fourth student, Liza Vernum, said she thought the public were mostly on their side, and even if they weren’t they soon would be.
I asked if they were 23 that the police might come to stop them.
“Not really,” she said, “actually we are suitable bellringers. I mean we are assistant bellringers for the church. There is no 24 against practising.”
I left the church with the sound of the bells ringing in my ears.
