Don’t be too surprised if you see a car going down the road without a driver in Beijing these days. It might be one of Baidu’s self-driving cars. Last month, Baidu tested its self-driving cars on open roads in Beijing. Self-driving cars have been in progress since 2010, when Google said it was making such cars. From then on, companies like Tesla, Uber and Baidu tried to make and test their own self-driving cars.

Now, many people really want to buy a self-driving car if they have enough money. They think it will make their life easier. However, every coin has two sides.

Normally, when there is an obstacle (障礙物) in front of the self-diving car, the car will stop. But sometimes it also makes mistakes. In one test, when researchers sent a point of light in front of a moving self-driving car, the car stopped. And in another test, when researchers did it again, the car moved to another road. If scientists don’t solve the problem, some people may use the mistake to do bad things.

So self-driving at least now is still not safe enough. When we use our computers or smartphones, they sometimes don’t work well without any reason. If this happens to a self-driving car the results might be dangerous. So scientists are making improvements to work out the problem.

1.Is the self-driving car safe enough now?

2.When did Baidu test its self-driving cars on open road in Beijing?

3.In the tests, why did the self-driving car make mistakes when researchers sent a point of light?

4.Do you still want to learn how to drive if you have a self-driving car? Why or why not?

If you dream of becoming a spaceman after you grow up, get started now! A spaceman needs a strong body and mind. See here what spacemen are able to do. They have many abilities that may make you amazed. Do you still have a long way to go?

Spacemen are able to live upside down (頭朝下地). They do this not just during sleep, but also when eating and going to the toilet. Before they fly into space, they have lots of practice. Each upside-down training time lasts for 20 days.

Spacemen aren’t just spaceship drivers but also machine repairers and scientists. They have to know every part of the spaceship and how it works. If something goes wrong, they must know how to make it work again. Also they do scientific experiments in space.

Spacemen know how to live in the wild. They take a knife, a gun and some dye (染料) with them into space. If they land in forests, the knife and gun can protect them from wild animals. If they fall into the sea, the dye can colour the sea water around them yellow. This can help people find them easily on the sea.

Spacemen can’t get dizzy (眩暈的). A spaceship is not a plane. When it goes up, the extra gravity force can break people’s bones. Spacemen must have strong bodies for this. They can’t get a headache or be sick. With many things to take care of, they’ve got no time for sickness.

Spacemen have amazing 1.

They can live upside down

They 2. a lot before they fly into space. They receive upside-down trainings, each of which 3. for 20 days.
