My dad was a son of a poor farmer and had to leave school early and worked in a factory. Education was for the rich at that time. So the world became his school He read everything he could get, listen to the town elders and learned about the words outside his tiny town. He usually said. So Dad asked us to learn at least one new thing each day. Though, as children, we thought this was crazy, we all followed the request. And dinner time seemed perfect for sharing what we had learned.

As children, we thought very little about these educational wonders. Our family, however, was growing together and taking part in one another’s education. And by listening to us and giving us a sense(尊嚴(yán)) , Dad no doubt influenced us most.

Later, I studied with some famous educators. They taught what I had learnt from Dad---the value of continual learning. And this has served me well all my life. Not a single day has been was though I can never tell whether knowing the population of Nepal might be really useful.
