解答 16.D 考查代詞,A.something 某些事情   B.everything  每件事情 C.a(chǎn)nything任何事情    D.nothing沒有事情  根據(jù)上文"George's mother was very poor.Instead of having bright blazing fires in winter,喬治的媽媽很窮,冬天沒有火生",可知喬治的媽媽沒有任何生火的東西,nothing"沒有什么,沒有一件東西".故選D.
17.C 考查名詞,A.paper  紙 B.coal 煤  C.wood木頭   D.cloth布 根據(jù)下文"He was to stay there all day to get as much wood as he could.他盡可能地呆在那里去的更多的樹木",可知,喬治不得不去撿起樹下的干柴.故選C.
18.A  考查形容詞,A.fine 晴朗的  B.rainy 下雨的  C.grey灰色的   D.cold冷的; 根據(jù)下文"the sun was high,he was hot,太陽很高,他很熱",可推知今天天氣不錯,天氣不錯用fine表示.故選A.
19.A  考查形容詞,A.cool"涼爽的";B.tidy"整潔的";C.quiet"安靜的";D.smooth"光滑的".根據(jù)上文"the sun was high,he was hot,"可知天氣很熱,喬治想找個涼爽的地方休息一會兒.故選A.
20.B  考查名詞,A.a(chǎn)pples  蘋果  B.strawberries草莓  C.tomatoes西紅柿  D.carrots胡蘿卜,根據(jù)文章第五段的"the first strawberry"可知,這里說的是喬治看到了一些野生的草莓,故選B.
21.B  考查名詞,A.scarves"圍巾";B.leaves"樹葉";C.Coats"外套";D.sweaters"毛衣",第二段提到的是"One fine day in July, she sent George to the woods 七月份的一天,她帶喬治去樹林".可知,這是在夏天.夏天天很熱,而A、C、D三項都不會出現(xiàn)在夏天,由此可知他墊了些樹葉在帽子里以便裝草莓.故選B.
22.D  考查名詞,A.kitchen"廚房";B.study"書房";C.yard"院子",D.bedroom"臥室",根據(jù)第九段"his mother's weak voice from her bedroom.房間里傳來了他媽媽虛弱的聲音",可知,媽媽是在臥室里.故選D.

25.A 考查動詞,A.divided 把…分成    B.threw 扔   C.turned轉(zhuǎn)動   D.cut 切割,根據(jù)前后語境"said he at last and he them into two piles"中的"two piles"可推知喬治把這對草莓分成了兩小堆,divide…into意為"把…分成",故選A.
26.B 考查動詞,A.cleaned 打掃    B.covered  覆蓋   C.put放置   D.lifted舉起,由上文"But each pile looked so small that he put them together again."I will keep them all for Mom 但每一堆看起來都太少了,所以他又把兩堆小草莓合到一起,說要全部留著給媽媽",可知,此處是說喬治把草莓蓋好,準備帶回家去.cover…up 意為"蓋起來;掩蓋".故選B.
27.C  考查形容詞,A.serious"嚴肅的";B.strong"強壯的";C.sick"生病的";D.silly"愚蠢的"由第九段中的"his mother's weak voice"她媽媽脆弱的聲音,可知,喬治的媽媽病了,所以這里指的是他生病的媽媽.故選C.

29.A  考查形容詞,A.thirsty 口渴的;B.hungry饑餓的;C.sleepy 犯困的;D.busy 忙碌的.根據(jù)空格后"longing for some tea"可知媽媽想喝茶,所以是很渴,表示口渴,故選A.
Shall I save them for her",這里用save,故選B.

Stephen Hawking was born in Oxford, England on 8th January, 1942. He went to school in St Allbans, a small city near London. Although he did well, he was never top of his class.

After leaving school, Hawking went first to Oxford University where he studied physics and then went to Cambridge University where he studied cosmology(宇宙學(xué)). As he himself admits, he didn't work hard. He was a very lazy student, and did very little work. However. he still got marks.

It was at the age of 20 that Hawking first noticed something was wrong with him. He started to bump into things. When he visited his family at Christmas time, his mother was so worried that she made him see a doctor. Hawking was sent to hospital for tests. Finally, the result came back. Hawking had motor neuron disease(運動神經(jīng)元。, an incurable illness which would make him unable to speak, breathe or move without the help of a machine. Doctors said they had no way to help him. He would die before 23.

At first, Hawking became very depressed. After a while, though, he began to see his life in a different way. As he later wrote, "Before my illness was diagnosed(診斷), I had been very bored with life. There had not seemed to be anything worth doing. But shortly after I came out of hospital. I suddenly realized that there were a lot of worthwhile(值得做的) things I could do." Hawking married, found a job at Cambridge University as a professor. He strongly believes that his story shows that nobody, how bad their situation is, should lose hope. "Life is not fair." He once said. "You just have to do the best you can in your own situation."
