Gratitude is selfless act. It helps you to learn to be empathetic. If you always know the goodness in life and give thanks to others it will be easier for you to find out the needs of others and to offer help whenever you can. Being empathetic to others' opinions and experiences will make you a better parent and friend.

Your health condition will be improved if you are always thankful for the people and things around you. According to Robert Emmons, a leading researcher, thankful people always feel healthier, both mentally and physically. Those who are thankful are 25% happier than those who aren't.

Gratitude is also a useful tool to form better relationships with friends, family members and so on. People who express their gratitude always prefer to forgive others and therefore are able to create long-lasting relationships.

The old saying goes "It's never too late to say you're sorry," but the same is true of gratitude. Take the time to thank people for their work or kindness-whether it was today, last month or many years ago. Practicing gratitude doesn't take much time, and it will make you happier and healthier. And that's a gift worth celebrating 365 days a year.
